The Club helps local, national and international charities both through charitable fund raising activities and through the undertaking of various practical tasks where this is possible. Often a club is linked with a school and we work with Stanchester School to provide senior student training and practice job interviews.

In the year ended June 2009 the club was able to donate over £17,500 to charitable causes both locally and internationally.

We have continued to support Yeovil Opportunity Group in practical ways as well as financially and including the provision of a website - www.yog.org.uk

This year we once again teamed up with Somerset Music to present four very successful evenings of musical entertainment - performed by 1,700 participants from schools and musical groups across South Somerset in front of a combined audience of almost 2,000 parents and friends. Now in its 20th year, the 2009 Spectacular provided another opportunity for performers aged from 5 through to mature adults to showcase their considerable musical talents. A similar event is planned for March 2010.

Through our partners in the Mufulira (Zambia) Rotary Club, we have been able to respond to what is needed in the local area. Mufulira Rotarians can ensure that projects are carried out effectively.

Local Rotary Fundraising, boosted by grants from our International friends, initially donated $30,000 to Health, Educational and Community Projects. Following donations to local schools and particularly provision of Sewing Machines to Robins Nest Orphanage, this led Harriet Simule, then President of Mufulira Rotary to exclaim, "The joy on the children's faces was such an exciting experience!"

The work continues. Last year four Medics, including one Rotarian, visited Mufulira to work and experience life within the local Health Community. Several needs were identified. £1500 was immediately donated to various causes. £5000 was raised to provide a much needed Anaesthetic machine at the local State Hospital.
